Is A Person Born with Leadership Qualities or Can They Be Taught in Management Schools?

People are the products of what surrounds them.

If a person is constantly around negativity, they are more than likely to become become negative people. Many leaders are created because of the leaders that surrounded them. For some, leadership qualities may be possessed from birth, but through classes focused on leadership management, those qualities are tested and, in other cases, strengthened.

Management classes are designed to strengthen leaders and to allow them room to succeed and fail. Too many management classes, in my opinion, can cause people to become self-righteous and not depend on their team. Being a leader takes a lot of strength and character. Without the help of a team or even a mentor to give helpful strategies on how to handle a rigorous role, leaders are bound to crumble under the pressure.

Ultimately, mentorship has a lasting effect on leaders especially those heavily involved. You will find that the greatest influencers to ever live have been greatly influenced themselves by the mentors they have had on their journey. Take mogul Oprah Winfrey for an example, her mentor was the late great poet and civil rights activist, Dr. Maya Angelou. “She was there for me always, guiding me through some of the most important years of my life. Mentors are important and I don’t think anybody makes it in the world without some form of mentorship,” Winfrey stated. There are many impeccable leaders with similar stories about their mentors’ impact in their life and successes. Behind every great leader are great mentors and advisors.
